Gleanings, A History of
Campbellford/Seymour is a description of the community from the earliest
settlement at the beginning of the nineteenth century to the present.
It commemorates the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the Township of Seymour and focuses on the important role which the Town of Campbellford played in the development of the area.
The upper Trent River has been and continues to be a major force in this development. People, places, and events are described in words and pictures, within the context of Ontario and Canadian history.
However, the focus of the book remains the ordinary people, who, through their daily lives and activities, have made this an extraordinary place. While the overall direction and editing of the book has been under the auspices of the Campbellford-Seymour Heritage Society, the true authors are the individuals and groups who have provided numerous written submissions. It is the result of thousands of hours of work over several years, all of it voluntary, some by Heritage Society members, the rest by members of the community at large.
The book has 16 chapters covering everything from disasters, to people, sports, the military, culture, and the river valley. Campbellford Memorial Hospital, 50 Years of Care Beyond Compare, 1953-2003 covers the 50-year history of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital which was built as a memorial to all the soldiers who died in World War II.
The history of the hospital is told in ten-year intervals.
It covers the doctors that worked at the hospital, the chairs of the board, and the presidents of the hospital. It outlines the significant events in the building and expansion of the hospital and celebrates the significant events and people who helped make the hospital a state-of-the-art medical establishment. It does not cover any medical cases, because they are protected by privacy.
Much of the content was received through interviews from one of the former doctors, former administrators, and the president of the Campbellford Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion at the time the hospital was built.

A Walk Down Memory Lane : 150 Years of the Campbellford-Seymour Agricultural Society, 1854-2005 looks at the early history of Seymour Township and the importance of agriculture in the development of the local area. It documents the emergence of the local Fair Board and its development through to its 150 th anniversary in 2004, including the acquisition of property and the building of fair structures. It also includes an examination of related farm associations and businesses, the dairy industry, and the diversified farming of the Campbellford-Seymour area.
Much of the content was gleaned from the minute books of the Agricultural Society and the Homecraft Division, as well as from local newspapers, Prize Lists of the Fair and the extensive archival and photographic records of both the Agricultural Society and the Heritage Society.
